http://www.spike.com/show/31082This show is awesome. I think the IRA vs. Taliban episode is a little inappropriate, but otherwise it's a fantastic show. They take the greatest warrior types in history and match them up randomly. So far I've seen the Spartan vs. Ninja episode (obviously won by the Spartan), and the Viking vs. Samurai episode (incorrectly won by the samurai, more on this in a bit), and they were both a lot of fun. There's a full season already, and season 2 starts in April.
By the way, I'd be willing to give a samurai a solid chance one one one with a viking. But in groups, samurai would get destroyed by vikings. How do I know? Viking conquered and destroyed everyone in their path. Like a storm from the North, they laid waste to entire cities and nations, from Russia to the Middle East, from the coast of Africa to England, and all of Europe in between; even on to the new world. They spread their culture around the world by acquiring new lands in exploration and conquest.
Quick, who did the samurai defeat? No one! They fought each other in feudal times; indeed, we don't even know how much of samurai history is true because the japanese embellished it so much in modern times in an attempt to forge a warrior cultural identity. What I can tell you is they never conquered a damn thing, so it's tough to say who they would've beaten. Samurai =
overrated.
Anyway, this show kicks ass and I can't wait for season 2.
